Adult Day Care & Covid-19
Adult day centers help families stay together and prevent early and sometimes unnecessary admission into a nursing home. All members of our health care team practice the highest standard of infection control every day even prior to COVID-19. Although we recognize there is some degree of risk involved in opening these centers, there is risk inherent in home care aides who are unsupervised coming into private homes as opposed to care in the adult health center wherein staff is under constant supervision of RNs and LPNs who supervise the care every day. There is also the risk of seniors living alone becoming more isolated and often depressed and experiencing a drop in their cognitive functioning. In many cases the result of the delay in reopening the adult day health centers will be admission into a nursing facility in which the senior’s risk is even greater.
Our day center can commit to the following procedures:
- Implement Coronavirus Policy and Procedures which include:
- Social distancing
- PPE use
- Cleaning and sanitizing procedures
- Frequent handwashing of staff and participants
- Conduct a daily health screening includes:
- Touchless temperature checks daily before entry
- Hand sanitizing upon entering facility

- Weekly COVID-19 testing is required for all staff and participants.
- Staff returning to work after COVID-19 illness or exposure must follow the guidelines outlined by the Department of Public Health
- Vaccination encouraged but not mandatory at this time (90% currently vaccinated).
