Meet Vicki Maynard: Leading Sarahcare of Indianapolis

Where Community, Dignity, and "He Won't Play UNO at Home" Moments Happen Every Day

Since 2008, SarahCare of Indianapolis, owned by Joy Adewopo has been serving the community with compassion and excellence. Joy brought on Vicki Maynard to lead the center as Vicki's experience and passion made her the perfect fit to become the face of SarahCare in Indianapolis.

Why SarahCare?
SarahCare's mission resonated immediately: compassionate, high-quality care that honors independence, dignity, and quality of life for older adults. Combined with Merle's expertise in adult day services, it was the perfect fit for serving Indianapolis.

What Makes It All Worth It
Ask Vicki about the most rewarding part, and she'll tell you: it's the families.

One daughter put it perfectly: "Someday, when I can get off my treadmill, I will stop by to let each of you know how much my dad and I appreciate what a difference you have made in my mom's life. SarahCare quickly became her daytime 'home,' and you kept her spirits up more than we would have dreamed possible."

"Knowing we provide a safe, engaging environment that supports dignity, independence, and quality of life and gives caregivers peace of mind makes the work truly meaningful," Vicki shares.

And that peace of mind? It's life-changing. One family member takes flying lessons down the road while his wife enjoys the center's regular Girls in Pearls Club. Another caregiver shares that they can finally exhale, knowing their loved one is thriving with us.

Our staff's best advice for families says it all: "Be family and care for yourself." Whatever self-care looks like, SarahCare helps families find that balance.

The Power of Community
What surprised Vicki most? How quickly deep, meaningful relationships form between participants, families, and staff. The center supports a wide range of needs daily, and seeing the real impact never gets old.

Families are consistently amazed by the friendships that form and how their loved ones open up in a community setting. One daughter recently shared: "He won't play UNO at home, but he plays it all the time here."

That's the power of community, it brings people back to life in ways families didn't think possible.

Advice for Future Franchises
Vicki's wisdom? "Truly understand the population you'll serve and the importance of building strong relationships with families and the community. I wish I'd known just how critical patience, flexibility, and a strong, compassionate team are to long-term success AND how rewarding the journey would be."

A Place that Feels Like Home
SarahCare of Indianapolis combats the isolation and loneliness that often accompany aging and life-altering diagnoses.

Here, person-centered programs bring back community and dignity.

Here, participants play UNO with friends.

Here, spirits stay up even when life gets hard.

And here, families find what they need most: peace of mind, support, and the gift of time to care for themselves while their loved ones thrive.
