Meet Our Staff
Dr. Juan Grana, President & Executive Director
Juan has spent his entire career taking care of patients of all ages. First as a Chiropractor, then doing ergonomic and biomechanical consulting work for major corporations, hospitals assisted living facilities and nursing homes. It was there that Juan saw that there had to be a better way than placing loved ones in a nursing home or assisted living. Thinking about his own parents, he vowed to find a way to help families stay together. Juan saw that there were limited choices available for the care of seniors requiring some degree of assistance and supervision, and felt that Adult Day Care filled this void in the continuum of care in the United States. Through an extensive national search, he found SarahCare to be the premier provider of these services in the country, and purchased a franchise. Subsequently, SarahCare at Watchung Square officially opened in February 2008.
Shaira Baksh, Director of Nursing
Shaira was trained in the UK as an RN and worked with the VA for 15 years. Then worked at an assisted living facility until coming to SarahCare
Activity Director – Erin Pender
In addition to providing safety and nutrition, SarahCare® is committed to stimulating the minds of our participants. Our Activity Director is in charge of planning and facilitating our recreation, arts-and–crafts and other special activities such as current event discussions, cooking, reading, field trips and more. Erin holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Marist College and has seven years of experience working in Activities in the social setting. She brings a wealth of experience working with seniors and a burning desire to exceed the expectations of our participants and caregivers.
Patty Farraye, Certified Nursing Assistant
Patty has been with SarahCare for 2 years and is universally loved by all the participants.
Tomika Sweeney, Certified Nursing Assistant
Tomika has been a CNA for several years and has worked in Assisted Living. Her high energy and big heart have made her a participant favorite.
Charlotte Gelfand, Social Worker
Charlotte has been a Social worker for many years with experience in geriatric social work, last with Holy Redeemer.
Jeanett Bustillos, Dining Room Director
Jeanett has won the hearts of all the participants with her quick laugh and loving personality
Meet Our Staff
Our SarahCare® Center prides itself on the experience and qualifications of its staff. Our staff includes:
- Registered and Licensed Practical Nurses: to administer prescribed medications, provide educational programs, manage day-to-day health needs, and attend to emergencies.
- Social Workers: to provide family support and assist with plans of care.
- Activities Professionals: to conduct personalized activity programs.
- Personal Care Assistants: to assist with personal care, including bathing.
- Dietary Consultants: to assist with meal plans and special diets.
- Professional Contractors: to provide chiropractic, podiatry services; physical, occupational and speech therapy services; massage therapy services.
