Special programs at our center:

Primrose Kinder Kids Adopt A SarahCare Grandparent

Adopt a SarahCare GrandparentPrimrose Kindergarten School kids come to the Center to visit their adopted grandparent, as part of the school’s  “adopt a grandparent” program.  They spend time talking to each other and sharing family stories regarding their own grannies.  This no doubt brings harmony and richness to the kids’ educational experience.  Adopted grandparents are presented the kids’ art work, they eat cookies together and sing a few songs.  As they hug and kiss their grandparent, the kids promise to come back in a month.  SarahCare appreciates Primrose’s initiative to increase the seniors’ feelings of self-worth while also helping the children acquire more positive perceptions of older adults and more knowledge of aging.

Wii Games

WiiGame10

We have found that Nintendo’s Wii games can help promote physical rather than sedentary activities for our participants.  Wii games can incorporate coordination training and balance.  The games are interactive and require the player to physically move.  Anything that gets our participants to move more than they have in the past is positive.  The video games are effective in helping participants set activity goals, track those goals and evaluate the progress.

Funding

Funding Sources available with SarahCare:

Long Term Care Insurance Plan – a number of long-term care insurance companies cover adult day services.

Scholarships – our center offers reduced rates to those who qualify and meet its requirements.

Private Pay – if the funding sources above are not available, you may pay privately at rates that are less than a home health visit and almost half of the cost of a skilled nursing facility.

As you look at having SarahCare begin providing services to your family, you may have questions regarding assistance that may be available in your community.

The above mentioned programs each have criteria requirements that must be met prior to funding being granted. The Executive Director can help begin the process by making the referral. For more information on the programs mentioned and other programs that may be available, please contact our Executive Director Lisa Suarez at (281) 361 7000.

Gourmet Catered Hot Meals

LunchLunch 1

Hot gourmet lunches are catered by a nearby assisted living facility, with menus created by a licensed dietician.  Holiday menus are planned to provide a variety of foods that appeal to personal preferences. Every meal is prepared from scratch with fresh ingredients. T0he participants are given an entrée choice, as a way of meeting their specific tastes.  We make sure to note on our foods what is high in sugar, fat and sodium.  Staff dine with participants to ensure that participants needing assistance are able to eat well.

Van2Transportation

SarahCare© Adult Day Centers strive to make your life easier by providing transportation. Transportation is provided from a participant’s home location to the SarahCare© Center. When the participant is scheduled to leave and return to their own home location, our transportation will complete their day.

Our vans are equipped to handle wheelchairs and walkers as well as ambulatory participants.

Scheduling is comprised of personal choice, availability and location.

Transportation is provided within a ten mile radius from the center. Fees will be based on the actual time spent by our specially-trained driver who is a certified nursing assistant. The van comes in handy whenever participants are invited to events at various churches, organizations and schools.
