Intergenerational Programming

We strive to include activities between elders and children where both groups benefit from each other and share their feelings, ideas, skills, and affection. Older adults are energized by the children while the children recognize the elders’ value and learn that aging is a natural part of life. We have visitations from middle and high school students for activities including letter writing, decorating and helping with planned activities. are designed to bring together two very different generations.

Therapy Services

Our Center provides a therapy room for use by physical and occupational therapists and our participants. We have arrangements with Northeast Rehab Hospital (Salem, NH) to perform routine therapy services at our Center. Participants may use their own professionals at our Center.

funding

Funding

Most elders pay for adult day services through retirement benefits, savings and assistance from family members.  Some elders have long term care insurance policies that will reimburse the insured for some or all of the cost of adult day care services.  We encourage you to talk with your insurance company representative and look closely at your policy coverages.  For those elders without the financial means, SarahCare® is committed to assisting families in identifying resources to enable their loved one to participate in our program.

Veteran Benefits:

Effective August 1, 2008 , SarahCare has been awarded a VA Contract which allows us to bill the VA directly for our day care services.  SarahCare can assist eligible veterans with the application process necessary to obtain VA benefits.  Please call Linda Steir for more information.

Medicaid:

Our Center accepts Medicaid funding.  In order to qualify for Medicaid coverage for adult day services, the individual must meet the low income and age requirements  or be determined to be eligible for the New Hampshire Home and Community Based Care Waiver (“HCBC”).  If eligible, day care services may be covered for up to five days per week as determined by the individual’s Medicaid case manager.

Grants:

There are various state and federal grant programs which become available from time to time. Our staff will advise clients on programs for which they may be eligible to make application.
