SarahCare at Home
Staff that knows your loved one and your family
Many centers provide care at home during the evenings and weekends for our participants. Our home care staff members are required to spend some time with your family member in the SarahCare center.
By using center staff to provide in-home care we bring consistency to your loved one’s care. No more unfamiliar caregivers; no more explaining your loved one’s special needs.
In the centers the staff see your loved one every day and thus are acquainted with their personal needs and likes and dislikes. The nursing staff and social worker can monitor your love one’s progress and adjust care accordingly within the home.
Helping your loved one to live a fuller life
While some seniors will resist leaving their homes, coming to our centers is an important first step in combating feelings of isolation and depression.
Research shows that elderly who are socially active are healthier, more mentally alert, and much happier.
By combining Sarahcare® at Home with center care, you will have a greater impact on their social and emotional well-being while having their health monitored on a more regular basis.

Brain Fitness
SarahCare® offers a very special brain fitness program that has undergone extensive research and testing. It’s the only brain fitness program that has been proven to improve your memory and sharpen your thinking. For those who suffer with the normal impact of aging on their mental fitness, the program has been shown to improve mental agility by as much as ten years.
What Is the Program?
Posit Science Brain Fitness program is a computer-based mental exercise program. It was developed by Posit Science’s global team of university based researchers as part of an ongoing effort to improve brain health as we age.
The program includes a series of scientifically based, fun and engaging exercises that utilize a computer with the assistance of a staff member who has been trained as a coach. These programs exercise your brain, and are designed to speed up brain processing and improve brain function.

Stepping out with SarahCare
SarahCare® field trips take your loved one out to enjoy new places, learn interesting new things, and experience events they might not have been able to attend for quite awhile because of their limitations.
The trips are based on the choices of our seniors and have included baseball games, the theatre, movies, and concerts.
The center makes all the necessary arrangements for your loved one’s special needs. Center staff, who your loved one sees everyday, will accompany them to make sure they are comfortable and secure.
Your loved one will enjoy experiences you thought they might never have again.

Intergenerational
Our intergenerational program brings together seniors and children in a safe and engaging environment. ‘Grandparents’ and ‘grandchildren’ have so much to share and can be a great source of joy to each other. Yet, they rarely have these opportunities.
SarahCare® intergenerational programs bring both generations together in a structured environment where they can learn from each other – sharing their feelings, ideas, skills, and affection.
Leader in the Field
Unlike other informal and casual get-togethers, our intergenerational program was scientifically designed and research to encourage these interactions and allow our seniors to participate fully from disabled and frail elders to sufferers of dementia and Parkinson’s.
As one of the first and most successful intergenerational programs in the nation, our program has been published in activity guidebooks such as Linkages and research journals such as The Gerontologist.
Activities
Our programs involve children of all ages from infancy to college. The seniors and the children are matched appropriately and enjoy activities especially designed for the pairing. Such activities include:
- Weekly activities including an exercise group, a sing-a-long session, crafts and games.
- Senior students from local high schools come on weekdays to visit elders. Their activities also include letter writing, decoration and helping with planned activities.
- Seniors in our centers visit children’s day care centers, to rock babies and help with their feedings.
- A local elementary school participates in a pen-pal program with our participants.
